About Us… 

DTR is a local, independent recording studio in Nottingham City centre. The studio has been a production space and recording studio since 2016, but recently has been refurbished in 2021. The studio is run by a team of 4 Engineers, producers and also professional teachers, and Arts award practitioners. DTR has opened its doors and has strong connections with a huge majority of Nottingham artists, musicians and MC’s. We continually work with various level artists Including number one selling artist Wiley, Nottingham’s own Bru-C, Window Kid, MC Spyda, Irah (Chase n Status / Shy Fx ) to name a few. We try and provide a bespoke and private recording studio, using a combination of Neumann and Universal Audio Equipment to provide you with audio worthy of broadcast and distribution. Secondly as professional musicians working in the industry we can help guide you on your own creative journey.

On top of a professional capacity, we also have staff with Degree Level teaching qualifications, who write music production course nationally, and have over 10 years teaching experience working with accreditors such as Pearsons on B-Tech Level 3 Qualifications and also the Arts Council UK on Arts awards, so If you would like to start learning this is a great place to start.

Our Team…

 

Kevin / Origin One

Kevin Is a Nottingham based producer called Origin One, and has Produced and Engineered for the likes of Bru-C, Devilman, Wiley, MC Spyda, Window Kid, Charlie P and Irah amongst others. Working on a wide range of music for various Uk labels including; Universal, Tru Thoughts, Nice Up! Records, Scotch Bonnet, Born On Road, Irish Moss, Raider Records and Mimm to Name a few.  

Over the past few years, mainly focusing on Grime, Dubstep, Dancehall, Reggae, and Dub, his music has lead Kevin to gain respect and radio play of his music productions over the past 15 years, from the likes of; DJ Target, David Rodigan ( BBC Radio 1 ) Donn Letts ( BBC Radio 6 ) Toddla T ( BBC 1 Xtra )  Jamz Supa Nova, Rob Luis – But also under various alias, has worked on various pieces of music and commissions producing Neo Soul, Jazz, Hip Hop, DNB, Jungle, Grime and Dubstep. Kevin is an adept producer at DTR studio – But is also an avid recording and mixing engineer – Kevin also designs courses and Teaches at Confetti Institute of Creative Technologies alongside working at DTR studios.  

Gaz / Congi

Gaz has been creating music for over 15 years and has seen some great success over that time with a healthy discography to show. One half of production duo Congi and producing Grime under his ‘Frost’ moniker, Gaz has worked alongside some pivotal lyricists in the Nottingham scene. Gaz is clearly a writer and producer in his own right, which has led him to record a multitude of vocalists, from various scenes and has had releases on Chord Marauders, Pond Life, Deepheads, Brownswood Future Bubblers, White Peach, 34 hertz & More! Since 2021 Gaz has been an integral part of the studio and has been running various recording and production sessions. Outside of the studio He is also an accomplished music tutor for local arts organisation SEND Project and has vast experience teaching music production and sound engineering.

Christian

Originally from Hull, Christian has been making, engineering and writing music for the past 26 years, as one of original members of 59 pilots, a northern remedy to Indy rock / punk. Christian was the Guitarist for the outfit, which naturally led him to create a studio , and started writing alternative dance remixes, heavily embedded with 90s dance and rave culture. This led to Him DJ’ing round the country and He gained a residency at Skegness’s pleasure dome in 95’ ( As part of the U.Ks largest indoor festival at the time )  – Chris was also a resident The Infamous Hull Pirate Station - ‘Sweet Fm’. As Part of DTR – Chris tends to focus more around live band recording but is great at mixing and audio production.

 

MArcus / Omen Breaks

Marcus has been making music for the past 15 years, which an eclectic taste and range of styles, but more recently has focused towards jungle music and Drum and Bass, Which feeds into his residency show at Kemet FM. He has produced and released music on record labels such – Jungle cat Recordings, Satta Sounds and DTR Recordings. More recently – Over the past few years Marcus has been the head honcho and director of UKJ records, working with a range of uk and international artists to make some of the most forward thinking amen driven music. Marcus is also one of the founders of DTR studios and his main skills focus around writing, producing and recording music.

Gaz / Congi

Gaz has been making music for the past 15 years or so under various alias such Frost, Congi, G-A and more, but is ultimately a prolific producer of Grime, Dubstep, 140 based music in Nottingham and beyond… And more recently throughout his traversing of musical content, more eclectic explorations of Hip Hip and more experimental music with his co-writer and Congi founder Tulip. Gaz is clearly a writer and producer in his own right, which has led him to record a multitude of vocalists, from various scenes and led to imprints on his own Chord Marauders, Pond Life, Deepheads, Daylife, white peach, 34 hertz & Tons More! Since 2021 Gaz has been an integral part of the studio and has been running various recording and production sessions. Outside of the studio He is also an accomplished music teacher, for SEND project and has vast experience teaching music production and Engineering.

Christian
